But you aren't the original artist. You copied other artist's depictions of these characters, slapped them over each other, and called it your own. You're a thief. You shouldn't be credited, the artists who you stole from should be credited.
Yes, I used some other images to trace over and to clean up (seriously the original RD I was tracing over had serious issues).
No in the sense that I could not find a vectored version of Sonic and I had to vector him, stroke colors and all completely from scratch.
I asked to be credited simply as the one who made this image in particular. I didn't take credit for creating the characters or anything and plenty of people have copied my stuff and you don't hear me complaining.
I'm not saying that you're taking credit for these characters, but I am saying that you're taking credit for the images depicting them. Regardless of whether you "fixed" them or not, you mindlessly traced over someone else's hard work and called it your own. For instance, if you did a copy of Picasso and referred to it as a copy there would be no problem. However, if you called that copy your own original piece, then that would be stealing. I like how you have the audacity to stress how hard it was to trace the image "completely from scratch."
The "from scratch" part referred to coloring (it's not easy to get accurate colors on pre-existing sets, especially when you're trying to adjust saturation) and the stroke had to added as well to give it the style it has and that took a long time to get right (this was pre-Illustrator for me so no auto-width adjustment). I did not mean for people to think that I made this completely (seriously you can search for sonic images and forms similar to this will pop up everywhere), but I just put it into a different style than people are use to seeing.
And before you go off saying "***hole, you suck and have no skill or originality so why don't you just quit f****** wannabe", I did it cause someone asked me to do it and I had fun with it.
You say,"I did not mean for people to think that I made this completely", but you're implying you did by telling people to credit you as the original artist. I don't intend on putting you down, I'm just trying to clear up a misconception you seem to have.
